Of course parents might not like what you want to do. So what? Do what you want, pursue your dream of being an artist. Don't let anyone stop you. If your mom doesn't like it, she'll get over it and accept it. I wouldn't worry about it. An artist, that's cool. Good luck Katiee!!! I support you 100%!

It q-quite simple rrreally.
You keep your options open. Even if you don't want to pursue the sciences and mathematics, you should continue to study them. You may not think it, but those two subjects are some of the most fundamental abilities you can find in this world. Mathematics will give you an ability to do your own checking and thusly saving you buckets of money. You can never depend on your works to be popular, so you will need some breathing room with constant barrages of bills, checks, and God knows what else. Science gives you an utmost understanding of reality. What can happen what can't; is what science bases itself upon. If you were creating manga, you need a keen sense of realism so it doesn't seem just too... out there. Misproportioned bodies means people falling over. The loss of realism takes away from the overall effect that a story can give off, when the reader is familiar with the limits that a character can face.
So please, keep you options open, don't just focus all your will into one area and hope for the best, that's not how life works! A Marathon runner will barely improve if he never cross-trains! A boxer will never land a notably more solid blow if he never lifts weights! Physics, anatomy, biology, and many other sciences are involves in creating art! If it looks impossible, the viewer loses his interest!
I know this sounds like it's just stupid "adult talk" to you, but I'm one of your peers; remember that. What your mother did wrong was to just sulk away and not bother to lecture you, and that was naive of her! If you just look away from someone when they don't understand, they will never understand, since nobody's going to come along one day and just tell them the plan of their destiny!
In truth, you can't just do what you want to do. You must do what you have to do, for we are human; this is how we survive countless days on our own or together!
